About me
Since retiring from full-time work in 2015, I have made it my goal to improve and diversify my skills. I finished my career in Lincolnwood IL serving as the Director of Parks and Recreation for nine years, where our team grew the department substantially, receiving Distinguished Agency state accreditation and numerous awards for the Village. My greatest honor during my final years in the parks and recreation field was to serve as Chairman of the Board for the Illinois Park and Recreation Association in 2014.
Following retirement I worked part-time as Interim Director of Recreation Services and Special Projects Coordinator for the Wood Dale Park District from 2017-2023. I also completed consulting projects in strategic planning, executive coaching, and board meeting facilitation.
Not being one to let grass grow under my feet, I started a pet and home care business in 2024 with my family after doing it informally for over a year. The business, Love 'em Like You Do LLC, provides care for pets and homes while clients are away.
I have been speaking at workshops and conferences on a variety of topics, such as accountability, work-life balance, positive attitude, mentoring, setting healthy boundaries, individual development planning, nature programming, succession planning, and team building. Recently, I was the keynote speaker for an all-campus event at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I have also spoken for the Swedish Historical Society in Rockford, IL, and have presented training for Wintrust Bank, local libraries, parks and recreation agencies, and schools.
