A thinking routine is a set of questions or a brief sequence of steps used to scaffold and support student thinking. This session will showcase the importance and benefits of using thinking routines in world language instruction. It will include research, examples from Harvard’s Project Zero toolkits and examples from language classrooms. Additionally, participants will explore how to use thinking routines to foster a community of language learners, boost student engagement, increase language proficiency, and develop cultural competence.
