The publication, Common Ground: Second Language Acquisition Theory Goes to the Classroom by Florencia G. Henshaw and Maris D. Hawkins, has quickly become nationally acknowledged by academics and professional organizations as a preeminent resource regarding best practices in second language instruction. During this session, participants will focus on a few key concepts from Common Ground - including acquisition, structured input, and communication. Using these ideas, participants will experiment with making small adjustments to activities and lessons that are already a part of their curriculum in order to transform them into richer and more communicative learning opportunities.
