Compliance and refusal are big topics in education, and this session will focus on the importance of listening to students’ voices and choices and understanding why it matters when students agree or disagree. The presenters will share an overview of learner assent, including a helpful checklist for planning these practices and ideas for teaching students to express disagreement respectfully. Participants will also reflect on their own opinions and behaviors to ensure they’re respecting everyone’s input.
